Boys Club Camping, circa 1959 - Jack Way collection |
Prior to the establishment of Camp Adventure in the Bow Crow Forest Reserve in 1959, boys and staff regularly camped in a area referred to as Paradise Creek which is now embraced in the area we know as Fish Creek Park. As fishing was a popular pastime, Rummy Sederiuk, a volunteer in the 1950's who taught the boys wrestling at the club, often took them on fishing trips east of the city as well.
Many of the photos and records from the 1950's were destroyed, so we are extremely grateful for collections contributed by Jack Way, Rummy, and others. We're still missing a lot of information from this era, so if you were involved in Calgary Boys Club during this time, we'd love to hear from you.
