"Camp Adventure is great! I get to meet lots of other kids and do
fun things like swimming, canoeing, hiking and archery."
Comment from a Camper
Camp Adventure is located on 64 acres in the heart of Kananaskis Country and provides camping and outdoor experiences for children and their families.
Who Can Go to Camp?
Children and youth ages 6 - 17, and families.
- Camp Adventure offers low rates and subsidies, so that every child has the chance to experience Alberta's great outdoors. This would not be possible without the generous support of the community, in particular The Canada Safeway Foundation.
Why Go to Camp Adventure?
Participate in exciting activities like: Low ropes challenge course, canoeing, swimming, archery, crafts, environmental programs, camp wide games, campfire nights, tipi living and reconnecting with old friends.
Our Family Camp Program provides opportunities for kids and parents to experience the outdoors together while:
- Canoeing
- Swimming
- Hiking
- Arts and Crafts
- Enjoying campfires and warm summer evenings
As well, our year-round Counselor in Training Program (CIT) offers people the opportunity to gain leadership skills in an outdoor environment and obtain high school credits for their volunteer hours
2012 Camp Adventure registration will begin at the end of March 2012. We hope to see you next year!

The Canada Safeway Foundation believes in the value of an overnight camp experience and is committed to helping send deserving kids to camp. They support kids who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in a camp experience. In addition, Canada Safeway Foundation has committed to assist us in upgrading and enhancing our Camp Adventure site. Thank you Canada Safeway Foundation for your tremendous support and for enabling even more campers to receive the benefits of an overnight camping experience!

Counsellor in Training (CIT)
The Counsellor in Training (CIT) program at Camp Adventure is for teens aged 16 and 17 who would like to learn skills that would enable them to work with children in a camp environment. Some of the skills that they will able to learn include: behaviour management, program development, implementation of skill based activities, enhanced communication and a variety of other skills that would allow a staff member to be successful at Camp.
During the course of their time at camp, the role of the CIT will be to assist counselors in the implementation of daily camp routines and able to learn how to establish professional relationships with the campers who are participating in the camp program at any given time. The benefit of becoming a CIT at Camp Adventure, besides the opportunity to work with youth in a fun camp atmosphere, is that a CIT will earn school credits while they participate in the program. This is accomplished through coordination with Chinook Learning Services and the Calgary Board of Education. At Camp, CITs will be paired with a single tipi group for which they will role model proper camp behaviour, while adhering to the camp philosophy, mission and goals. In addition, CITs are responsible for abiding by the operational policies and procedures set by the Coordinator of Wilderness and Outdoor Experiences.
Leader in Training (LIT)
The Leader in Training (LIT) program with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is for teens aged 13-15 who are looking to develop positive leadership skills. The program is designed to foster leadership qualities within the participants while instilling the basic skills needed to become a leader in a wilderness or outdoor setting. Topics covered during the program are: group management, goal development and implementation, role modelling, conflict negation, and other skills that would enable them to become leaders in their communities.
