“Participation in Boys and Girls Club activities has been a life-changing experience for my daughter and our family. The staff who worked with her were caring, guiding professionals with a real innate talent of building self esteem and support for my girl."
Since the first Calgary Club opened in 1939, the Boys and Girls Clubs have grown to support kids and families in communities most affected by complex social and economic issues. Today, seven Community Clubs form the cornerstone of our agency and provide safe, vibrant places in the community where children and youth can learn, have fun and develop a sense of personal belonging and achievement. Designed to reduce risk for the entire family, our Communiy Clubs function as a support system for children, youth and parents by providing diverse activities that meet the interests and needs of children, youth and families. Every year approximately 7,000 members participate in a variety of Community Club programs.
Our Community Clubs are located in the neighbourhoods of Forest Lawn, Dover, Penbrooke Meadows, Falconridge, Pineridge, Renfrew, Thorncliffe and Bowness. Club programs engage members in activities with adults, peers and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem and to reach their full potential.
Clubs provide diverse activities that respond to the interests of children, youth and families. Programs engage members in activities with adults, peers and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem and to reach their full potential. Club programs are divided into four main areas:
1. Life and Living Skills
