Food and Nutrition In Schools (FANS) provides breakfast, lunch and snacks to children in over 130 schools in Calgary, helping to offset hunger's negative effects on learning and emotional health.
Who Can Access the Program?
- Any separate or public school that recognizes a need is eligible for the program.
- Once the need has been recognized, our nutritionist works to create a strong partnership with the school and their volunteers to operate this vital program.
Why Access the FANS Program?
- FANS provides breakfast, lunch and snack items free of charge for Calgary school children in need.
- Studies have shown that proper nutrition is crucial to the healthy development of children and youth.
- By providing basic nutritious food at school, our FANS program helps kids perform better in school and to increase the chances kids will perform better in school and have positive relationships with others.
