What is Hera?

Hera is a specialized education program with therapeutic supports for adolescent girls who are at risk of being sexually exploited. The program embraces a therapeutic, relationship-focused approach to support girls at risk to develop skills, commit to their education, re-examine their lives and move forward in a positive direction.

Hera is a program in partnership with Calgary Board of Education.

What does Hera provide?

•    academic classroom with learning supports
•    mentorship opportunities
•    in-home family support
•    experiential learning opportunities
•    support and connection to community resources
•    referrals and access to therapy

Who can attend Hera?

•    Females aged 13 – 17 years old
•    At risk of or involved in sexual exploitation
•    Willingness to access the program and engage in all aspects of programming
•    Calgary Board of Education classroom placement with an Area Specialist

Program Services and Hours of Operation

•   September to June: Academic classroom Monday to Friday 9am – 3pm
•   July to August: Summer program Tuesday to Thursday 11am – 3pm
•   Year round: Mentorship program after school hours and weekends
•   Year round: In-home family support after school hours and weekends

How can you access Hera?

•    Call the program to receive a referral package and guidelines
•    Girls may receive immediate support through the SCRIPT program. Please call 828-HOPE to access community outreach support from SCRIPT.
