Especially during or in the aftermath of a recession, finding employment for youth can be a challenge.
Studies show that graduates with work experience are more likely to get employed compared to those that don’t. Our programs provide over 300 youth each year with employment, for many their first job creating employability and transferable skills for the future.
We provide youth with support in writing resumes and cover letters, preparing and practicing for interviews, and developing the “soft skills” required in most workplaces.

Our Impact
- 333 young people participated in our work experience programs with partners such as the Calgary Stampede, Taste of Calgary in 2019.
- 260 youth participated in employment workshops to build skills for employability.
- 83% of Newcomer youth at Building Youth Connections accessed support for employment.
- 76% of youth at our Building Youth Connections program feel confident they know how to apply for work and get a job.
